Commonly asked questions regarding Multi-Shift Assignments and Primary Position/Location

Choosing a Primary Position:

You can choose a Primary Location and Position on the Team page. Simply click on the Team Member you want to add them for and choose the Positions/Wage & Locations tab at the top. 

The box that will open will contain all the Positions within your organization. The Positions that Team Member works will be checked off. To the right of each Position is a translucent star. Click the Star next to a Position to assign it as their primary position. 

Choosing a Primary Location:

You can choose a Primary Location on the Team page. Simply click on the Team Member you want to add them for and choose the Locations tab at the top. 

The box that will open will contain all the Locations within your organization. TheLocations that Team Member works will be checked off. To the right of each Location is a translucent star. Click the Star next to a Location to assign it as their Primary Location. 

How Primary Position & Location work on the Schedule 

(using +New>Shift or the + on Calendar or Team Member Grid)

Once you have chosen a Primary Position and/or Location for a Team Member this tells the system that this is the information most often associated with that Team Member's shifts. This means that when you create a new shift and choose that Team Members name, their Primary Position and/or Location will appear in those fields.

Commonly Asked Questions:

What if I do not want to choose a Primary Location and/or Position? No worries, the last used location and position for that Team Member will then populate into the Position and Location fields.

What if I choose to pick just one Position as the Primary or one Location? No problem. The Primary Position or Location will populate into the appropriate field, and the other will populate the most recently used position or location. 

What if I want to schedule that Team Member for something other than their Primary Position or Location? Simply use the drop downs as you usually would. All other Positions and Locations assigned to that Team Member will be available to choose from. 

How Primary Position & Location work on the Position & Location Grid

Primary Position and/or Location work the same when using the +New shift button when on the Position or Location Grid, however, when using the + on the schedule next to a specific Position or Location, the shift box will act a little differently. 

Location Grid:

When choosing the + to add a shift for a specific location, the New Shift box will open. Instead of populating a Primary Location, it will populate the Location from the row you selected the + on. The Primary Position for the Team Member selected will populate if applicable, otherwise, the last used Position will populate. 

*Note: Position and Location are still editable within this box.

Position Grid: 

When choosing the + to add a shift for a specific Position, the New Shift box will open. Instead of populating a Primary Position, it will populate the Position from the row you selected the + on. The Primary Location for the Team Member selected will populate if applicable, otherwise, the last used Location will populate. 

*Note: Position and Location are still editable within this box.

How Primary Position & Location work when using Multi-Shift Scheduling

When more than 1 person is selected for a shift, the Primary Position and Location selected for each Team Member included will still populate automatically. If Primary Position or Location is not selected for one or more Team Members selected, then the last Position and/or Location scheduled for them will be used. The populated Position and Location will not show on Shift box, but instead will say Multiple Positions and Multiple Locations.

Choose Assignments tab to view what each Team Member's Position and Location are, and to edit any Positions or Locations for Team Members included on this shift. 

Commonly Asked Questions for Multi-Shift Assignments & Primary Position/Location: 

What if a Position and/or Location are showing up as blank on the Assignments tab? This means that this Team Member does not have a Primary Position and/or Location assigned to them. If left blank within the Assignments tab, the last scheduled Location and/or Position will be used. 

What if I do not want to use the Primary Position or Location for one or more Team Member? Simply use the drop down to select the Position and/or Location you want to apply to this shift.
