How can I can I create PTO & Time Off Request Categories?
Companies were looking for an easier, more organized way to track PTO instead of relying on spreadsheets. We started with a simple option to track total PTO (like 20 days per year), but now with the latest update, you can set up multiple time-off banks—like vacation, sick days, and more.
✅ Getting Your Organization’s PTO Categories Set Up
- Head to Settings
- Click on Time Off Requests
- You'll see a bunch of options displayed that you can toggle ON or OFF depending on your organization's PTO policies
- Enable the Turn on PTO & Time Off Request Categories setting at the bottom
- Type a name in the New Category Name field to add a new category
- Lastly, click Save to save the new category
You'll see all your custom categories listed. To remove a category, just click the "x" next to it
Now that you've added your custom PTO categories or PTO banks, you can set which categories are available to each team member and how many hours to allocate per category.
👩💼 Assigning PTO Policies to team members
- Head to the Team tab
- Click on the team member
- Click PTO Allowance
- Set the PTO Method to be Annual Allowance
- Enable the Multiple PTO Limits setting
- Set how many hours you want to allow per category
- Click Save
Requesting and Approving PTO
Team members can submit their Time Off Requests as usual by following these steps:
- Go to the Schedule tab
- Click New
- Click Time Off Request
- Choose the PTO category for the request
- They’ll be able to see how much time they have left in that category
You'll get Time Off Requests to approve or deny if you're a manager. Requests will now show the PTO category as well
- Head to the Schedule tab
- Click Time Off Requests
- Click Awaiting Response
- You'll see your pending Time Off Requests
- Click on a request to approve it or deny it
- Click Save
Time Off Report: We're currently working on customizing the Time Off Report to display totals by PTO category. At the moment, it still shows general PTO data without breaking it down by category. We hope to have this update ready soon!
